Kol Nidre Exhibit

The Kol Nidre The Kol Nidre is a solemn ceremony in Judaic religious practice that has been an issue of controversy between the Jews and Christian nations for more than a thousand years. Elizabeth Dilling discusses the Kol Nidre from a Christian point of view in her book, The Jewish Religion: Its Influence Today, on pages 4, 7, 19, 20, with reference to a page in the Talmud, cited in her Exhibit 171. The ceremony, history, words, and music are described in the 1906 Jewish Encyclopedia in Vol. VII, page 359. The Kol Nidre ceremony was the subject of the movie The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson, in which can be heard the melody of the Kol Nidre sung by a cantor.
